Deceased parents can I claim a refund with probate?

Wonder if anyone can advise me please. My late parents had a mortgage with the halifax (until it was paid off) and also banked with HSBC all their lives. I have been thinking that perhaps they would have been able to claim a ppi refund or some refund on mortgage insurance, loans etc if they were still alive as am sure they had a few loans over the years too, but wondered where I stand as they are both now deceased. (Father 10 years and Mother 4 years.) I have probate. Am I able to claim for them even if they are no longer alive? If so would the banks try their best to say I cant ask for a refund for them as they have died even though I have probate? Is this a no hoper? Would love to claim a refund as I know my Father would have fought tooth and nail to claim anything that was owing to him if he was still alive! Any advice would be most appreciated indeed, thank you.

You don't explain why you think they would have been entitled, and what proof you have?0

On what grounds? Most mortgage insurance complaints are rejected. Loan insurance has more success but how were they mis-sold?I have probate. Am I able to claim for them even if they are no longer alive?
The executor of the estate can make a complaint on behalf of the estate. However, the complaint reasons have to be factual. i.e. you cannot use verbal allegations. it has to be things like eligibility failures etc.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). As both posts above say, many mortgage complaints are rejected.
Mortgage PPI is one of the few products it's actually good to have, as this can cause you not to lose your home.

Thank you everyone, seems a bit too confusing to me to understand. I assumed ppi etc was paid if you asked if you had been mis sold as no information being given to the person who was buying it. I just wanted to do the right thing for my late parents if they were owed any money. Seems I wont know the answers to what will be asked from me, so a little too complicated for me to try claim, but thank you all for your replies, I am a newbie and was scared to post to be honest!0

With general loan PPI, this was regularly and systematically missold.
With mortgage PPI, this is a vital product that could stop someone losing their home if they become unemployed.
With an unsecured debt, you can't automatically lose your home (although there are many exceptions), where with mortgage debt, you can.
Unless they were self employed, company directors, MP's or retired (or one of them was), then there's really no point in not having it.
