Text Comparison freeware

Does anyone know of any freeware that I can use to compare two separate (slightly different texts) both around 50 A4 pages ?
This is to check where they differ - and to combine them into one .... ?

There used to be a way to do this in DOS (I think the command was fc).
A google search should turn something up

What format are they in?

If it's plain text, go download WinMerge - http://winmerge.org/ It's what I use for code comparison

Thanks all - it looks like msword.diff (http://msdiff.com/) is what I want !!
it is taking forever though !

Winmerge is free, BeyondCompare is commercial but extremely versatile and has a trial. I use BC for 'diffing' spreadsheet versions.

Can either handle embedded graphics ?
Msword diff took forever! !

In BC open the Word docs as Text Compare

Notepad++ has an excellent compare function, is free, but it only handles files sizes up to around 480Meg

Thanks - beyond compare has proved ideal for my use - it "ignores" embedded graphics !!
