Mira Shower Guarantee

We moved into our house just over a year ago.
The previous owners had renovated and replaced the bathrooms, showers and the kitchen totally.

They gave us the receipts and documents for everything staying with the house, this included the Mira Shower in the bathroom.

We have had a few things go faulty, but as all under existing guarantee/warranty they have been repaired or replaced with no problems. We now have a problem with the shower which we cannot sort ourselves as its built into the wall/ceiling. So I contacted Mira with the details of the 5 year guarantee left by the previous owners and explained we now have a problem with the shower.

I was then told we couldn't use the guarantee as its not valid due to change of owner!!? Is this true? why has everything else been repaired ok yet this company will not fulfil their own 5 year guarantee promise?

They expect me to pay out £145 for someone to come and look at it but surely if its only in its 2nd year of a 5 year guarantee I should be entitled to them coming to fix it!

Anyone know where I stand?

Thanks in advance:(

Why do you think you're entitled to anything from the manufacturer, you didn't buy the shower from them after all. They can impose any T&Cs on their warranty, or not even offer a warranty at all. If it's non-transferable then I'm afraid you have no choice but to pay for it to be repaired.

The only way you could invoke the guarantee is if you ask the previous owners to raise it with Mira. And even then they might be able to reject the request as they will no longer be the owners of the shower. You might want to look at how much a new one would cost, if it's not that much more than the call out charge it might be worth replacing, and then you'd have the benefit of the warranty on the new one.
