If there is a genuine debt here, and they are genuinely authorised to collect it, they'll write.
If you discuss this on the phone you will be giving them information that they may not already have, and there will be no record of any accusations or threats that they make.0 -

That's because if you speak to the scum on the phone they will tell lies, untruths and generally do anything to make you pay. Even people who don't actually have debt!
So, every time they ring, hang up after bidding them good day. They will write to you, they have to if you refuse to speak on the phone. Even better is to refuse to give your "security" details. Would you give your date of birth and address to a total stranger demanding money? No, I wouldn't either.
Send me a letter telling me exactly what it is I allegedly owe, with proof that I owe it (signed agreement, statement of account) and then we can discuss the matter in writing.

Wrong.
That was back in the old days.
But yeah, writing is fine anyway. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Absolutely not!!
Never answer "security questions", asked by a random caller.
They could be anyone.
Only go through security questions, when you absolutely know who you are talking to, ie. you have rung them, on a number you know is theirs.0 -
Insist that they pass through security first before you can discuss any details. As the call handler for their full name, address, date of birth e.t.c. Then tell them you will contact them again soon once all their details have been verified.0

What 'old days'?
They still do that. Same as Mucky Hall and motormouth.0
