  • Think it depends a little on what your budget is and what you expect for that budget? Buying? Renting? The areas mentioned West Bridgford etc are great, but because of that they can be pricey, but it's all relative.

There's a new tram being built which goes through some of West Bridgford and a new line going out to Beeston/Chilwell which are nice areas, with stuff going on. There's a great nature reserve at Attenborough as well for walks etc. There's also a train station at Beeston and in Attenborough which gets you in to town in a little over 10minutes.

Hope that helps for now, happy to help if you let us know more or have other questions.
  • Do a Google search for Creswell.

Right on the Notts, Derbyshire border.

    On the Robin Hood line.

    Very green and horsey.

I think someone is taking the p*ss

I would seriously look in the area near the train line between Nottingham and Lincoln, there's plenty of nice villages with railways stations such as Burton Joyce, Lowdham, Thurgarton, Bleasby, Fiskerton, Rolleston, Collingham, Swinderby - most of these are quite affluent and popular with horsey types. There's regular trains to Nottingham and Lincoln and a daily direct service to London stops at some of these villages. Newark is roughly equidistant to Nottingham and Lincoln and has nice cafe's, restaurants and shops.

I'd second this. Seems to me that places like Burton Joyce or Lowdham would be perfect.

Then there are the lovely villages in the vale of Belvoir, just off the A52. If they have a car they can get to stations on the line between Nottingham and Grantham, Aslockton, Bingham, Bottesford. Plenty of lovely countryside, stables etc. Bingham was recently voted one of the top 10 towns to live. Plenty of restaurants and decent pubs in the villages.
Fast Buses run every 15 mins from Bingham to Nottingham.
