I've got a (Win 8) laptop, which is connected to a separate monitor.
I've adjusted the "When I close the lid" settings to "Do Nothing", yet, when I close the lid, the monitor goes off
Any ideas?

I assume you have an external keyboard too(!). After you close the lid, press "windows key"+P a few times slowly, does the monitor come on?0

Yes it does.
I also get a vertical blue bar on the right, allowing me to choose which display(s) I wish to use.
Thanks.0 -
On my work Dell laptop it used to be the F5 key pressing that would cycle through laptop monitor, external monitor and projector output.
I can't remember if I had to press another key, either Alt or Ctrl, with F5 though. I've been retired a year and work seems like a lifetime ago!One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
On my current Dell laptop it is Fn+F8 keys. Does exactly the same as Winkey+P.0
