AOE means no money left for food

I got an attachment of earnings order on my wages last month and i have been struggling anyway. Long and short of it is now my cupboards are empty. I am on what seems like a decent wage so there is no government help and i used to gamble so i have no friends to borrow off as those people gave up on me a long time ago. I also have nothing left to sell. So i dont think i have any options. So i guess question is, can my body handle 13 days with very little food without much ill health? I am a bit tubby and i am prepared to try and get through. Just wanted some encouragement that it is possible really?

I'm sure it's possible.
Good luck
Where in the country are you? Have you considered a food bank?Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Do you actually have, absolutely no food in the house, and absolutely no money?0

I have about 24 pence in coppers and 4 potatos a tin of beas and about 200g of rice. Cant go to food bank as i earn too much.0 -
hiya, I didn't think food banks depended on how much you earn, just if you are in difficulty? you need a referral though, go to your gp and explain the situation, they can refer you.
is there no-one who could lend you even enough for a basics loaf?
and really think you need to speak to a debt charity ,sorry, I don't know what an AOE is for/ means. will this be ongoing or was it a one off?
what are your usual incomings/ outgoings ?
good luckLIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
now i'm confused....just read another of your posts, couldn't your mum help with food then?
"I am leaning toward the picnic idea, of course that relies on it being a sunny day. Will get my mum to rustle one up for me, she goes in Marks and Spencers hehe "LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
Go and knock up all the local takeaways, restaurants, pubs - see if they'll offer you some casual work in exchange for food. Say a pub, you could offer two hours of glass collecting/general rubbish clearing, dishwashing in exchange for a pie/chips meal off their menu.
Or, it's grass-cutting time - walk round and find people whose gardens haven't been mowed .... and knock on their door to see if they have a mower and offer to cut their grass "right now" for £3-5 cash and a cheese sandwich/mug of tea.0 -
Any chance you could borrow a tenner from someone?0

Surely someone at work would lend you a tenner. Or your ex-partner? Or your parents.0

My sympathies. It's horrible being in this situation.
My first thought would be dealing with the urgent and immediate. Have a look at borrowing a tenner from your mother or colleagues. That will get you through the week. Have a look at the old style boards for meals that will get you through for a tenner. It's possible, if a little dispiriting (lentil dal is good, an egg for breakfast with a slice of toast, rice and onions is just bearable).
I have been saved on a couple of occasions by having either clubcard vouchers or nectar points that I was able to spend on a couple of items to last me a day or two. (Sainsbury's employee told me she'd never seen anyone manage to achieve absolutely bang on the exact voucher amount of £5 before)
The next bit once you have sorted the immediate crisis is to figure out how you will get through the week after this...
And the next bit is to figure out how to never leave yourself in this situation again! I's probably going to be down to cost cutting, budgeting, upping earnings, debt management etc. It was definitely when I found myself walking home (no money for public tranport) using my points in the supermarket that I think something snapped for me and I thought enough is enough!0 -
look up your local soup kitchen, unlike food banks we just feed who turns up. there's also Sikh temples who will give you a mealTallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0
