Striking a deal

I've noticed a default on my file from 4 and half years back which is an account I thought had been written off after I requested a write off to help me when in real real trouble. At the time of asking I didn't actually receive a reply but from that day all statements stopped and I never heard from them again. Same address t'out until 3 months back. I asked them for clarification and was told its marked as ''CCA invoked'' which was not my initial approach. Sum is not massive (£700 ish).
IF I was to offer to pay the balance under a normal account (reactivated) providing they remove the default what reaction would I probably get.
Thanks

Would probably be refused. Assuming the reporting of the default was factual.
No harm in asking though, as some debt collectors have been known to deal. Heard of a case just the other day where one did.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks - the account is sitting with the original provider (ShopDirect) not a DCA - any difference in chances of a deal.??Would probably be refused. Assuming the reporting of the default was factual.

Shop direct are usually a nightmare to deal with.
Odd they still gave your account as they they normally pass to their internal DCA (NDR) then drop it like a hot potato to a DCA.
Not sure what CCA invoked means. When Did you take out the account?:beer:0 -
''CCA invoked'' is their term for a customer asking for proof of the account with a signature. They can't provide because their is no signature from the on-line application.happy_bunny wrote: »Shop direct are usually a nightmare to deal with.

They said the original debt was handed over to a DCA who handed it back when it couldn't be enforced. I'm told its been archived and they will not be persuing any recovery action. Taken out 5 and half years back and the default will fall off Oct 2015.
I could pay it as a normal account but would like the default removed.

Something seems odd here. They don't need a signature if taken out online i don't think.
Anyhow, worth a go as they seem resigned to no money.
It sounds like it might not be far from statute barred though.
Do you really need the default removing?:beer:0 -
6 years is up Oct 2015. At this stage I can't see any credit requirement for the next 15 months so I suppose just leave alone may be the best option.happy_bunny wrote: »Something seems odd here. They don't need a signature if taken out online i don't think.

It's only since (April?) 2007 that actual signatures were no longer required. If the agreement was formed after that, electronic signatures are acceptable.0 -
Yes, after that date they don't really need to produce any signature.
Just proof its your account and you have been using it.
Not sure about stuff taken out on line before that date, I guess they should still have got a physical signature.:beer:0
