Didn't know you had to wait for a code for checkmyfile - I didn't. The lack of info can be a problem but if you ring checkmyfile up (they are extremely helpful) they send you a hard copy of the report with the details on it.

For approximately 20% of applications it wont let you get an instant report (apparently due to insuffucient info but I have lived here 8 years & am on electoral role so fail to see how!!) so you have to have a code in the post. I did ring them & didnt find them particularly helpful & they wont give the code over the phone or by email. Good from a security point of view but not if you want to chek your report quickly! A total waste of almst £20 in my book! Wish I'd taken a deep breath & researched the free one (above!) first!

  • ohhh dont know what to suggest then vord... maybe try and serch this site for other topics/threads on this subject 'annual credit report' and see if any of the old topics can answer your question?
  • IIRC you should expect to wait 3 months before a closed account shows on your credit file.

I got all excited when settling my loan early and cancelling old cards but it depends on when the creditor updates the CRA database. Some companies are quicker than others.
