'ChipsAway'(minor car body repair specialists)...anyone use them
Comments

I've used a company called Sprint Finish before and the chap was excellent, and very reasonably priced. Though it's actually a franchise (as a lot are) so I guess the quality of work is dependant on the person doing it.0

I've managed to scrape the back side of my car!....small minor scratch which needs repairing....Has anyone used 'ChipsAway'? or know of any reputable/reasonable company.Thankyou
They are a franchise so it's pot luck, used them once for my daughters new car when somebody backed into the bumper causing a small scratch. Never again, he made a complete hash of it making it look much worse, when I contacted Chips Away they were no help at all. They told me my contact was with the franchise holder and nothing to do with them.0 -
As above its not like asking are ASDA value beans OK.
It will depend on the person you call/get. Some are better than others.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Yes, as already posted, as a franchise, it will vary. I've used my local Chips Away on 3 cars over the years. They did make a hash of it once, but when I explained that I was unhappy, they put it right.
I'd suggest you visit your local Chips Away and and speak to some of the staff doing the work. You'll also be able to see the standard of what they're doing, which would hopefully give you more confidence in them.0 -
Have a look locally for similar businesses - they may well be ex-franchisees who've set up on their own rather than continue to pay for the branding.0

I have used them on a number of occasions for our company cars and members of my family have also used them. In all cases the work was excellent and the prices very reasonable.0

Halfords have their own body repair as well.

Being a national well known company I'd hope their work is to a decent standard. They seem to guarantee it for 3 years which seems reasonable.0 -
Worth asking at the local dealer if they don't have a bodyshop. They'll have a chip and dent bod that will help prep cars and you know they'll be ok.
Also ask on local car forums for reports about people in your area. What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Used our local Chips Away (Colchester) recently and he did a great job. Ours had a deep scratch with a slight dent. I knew they couldn't sort dents, but he did a better job of getting it out then I expected. Used what looked like polyfiller, but it seemed to work. You can see the dent slightly in certain lights, but I was expecting it to stay completely.
Paint was blended in well so you can't see that it's been redone.0
