pc world refund

Options
hi, this is my first time on this great site and need your help and advice.

i bought a usb wifi device to receive wifi signal on my laptop from pc world. as of today the receipt is still valid for another week before the 21 day refund runs out.

i removed the wrapper from the box and tried this device on my laptop and i am not happy with it- as it dont meet my needs and expectations.

I took it back to the store for a refund today and was told by a snobby kid that i couldnt have a refund due to he fact it had been opened, then he took great pride in showing me the notice on the wall saying refunds only if not opened and within 21 days.

how was i meant to try the device if i didnt open it ( the shrink wrapper). any way, i tried my luck and told a white lie that it was broke and didnt work on my kaptop (truth is it dosnt work anyhow for my needs. i. e it dont pick up a signal,,but it did in the shop when he tested it.)

he proceeded to box it up and slump it infront of me without a word, i said i want a refund cos i aint happy with what i bought, he said no etc and kept on about the policy, the manager came and he said prety much the same.

i have heard you cana have a refund on anything whether opened or not, is this the case here. i want happy with my purchase, just cos i opened it does t hat exclude me, what can i do:j

    Is the thing faulty?

If it just performs less well than you expected, then the sales assistant is absolutely right.

In general, all sales in a shop should be considered final.

PCW offer a refund if the goods are returned within 21 days, and because this is in addition to your statutory rights, they can impose the condition that the packaging is unopened.

    Sell the item elsewhere.

Change of mind refunds, bought in store, are entirely reliant on store policy.

Their policy is unopened, it has to be unopened.

You have heard wrong, as has already been said there is no law requiring a shop to allow returns for unwanted items, if they choose to have a returns policy it is above and beyond what they legally have to so if they say only un-opened items there is nothing you can do about it.

So what do you expect them to do with an opened used second hand item if they gave you a full refund just because it did not meet your expectations, they can hardly sell it again as new.

    - as it dont meet my needs and expectations.
What did you need a USB wifi adaptor for, and what did you expect it to do?
    Squirrel!
If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
