Hi Guys,
We bought some very expensive wallpaper(well for us it was) and I put up one roll before Mrs Mikeb222 decided she didn't like it (neither did I to be fair), so decided to take it down before it dried out.
But whilst peeling it off, it also took what's looks like the plasterboard lining maybe, and now I have big swathes of grey showing through (presumably the plasterboard).
Looks a right mess and all uneven of course.
I am presuming I now need to replaster these patches but Ive never plastered before.
Any advice most welcome

Don't panic, no need to even think about plastering .
You have just removed the paper lining on the plasterboard.
1) depends on the paper you are replacing , you might get away with doing nothing
But unlikely
2) Use a reasonable lining paper over just that wall , that will do the trick0 -
Lining paper is used to line uneven walls, those that are pitted and have problems. If you are going to be papering the wall then it is recommended. It will stop the edges of your new paper curling up over time. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

Well you said you just removed 'paper' , so a good lining paper should work.
A bit of work along the damaged edges of the paper, with some sandpaper would do no harm. When finished, and still not happy, repeat step one with the lining paper going sideways. But only you can tell about the results.
At least lining paper is cheap, a job you can do, and VERY much easier than plastering / filling.
ps as I said , go for a thicker lining paper, over 1000 gm0 -
It really depends on how well you removed the plasterboard covering (albeit unintentionally). If you've dug into the plasterboard itself and left lots of pits and scrape marks, better to get some filler and spend as much time as you can filling them and sanding flat. Time spent at this stage will pay dividends. This is filling, not plastering.
Then cover with a heavy weight lining paper. As for filler, I prefer the cheaper store brand in powder form. This dries fairly soft and it's easy to sand flat or scrape flat using the edge of a steel rule. Some of the big name fillers set far too hard for my liking and make the job of smoothing flat a real chore. Oh and it's a good idea to give each area a quick moisten with a wet brush before you apply filler, otherwise the plasteboard will just suck all of the moisture out of your filler and it won't adhere as well.0 -
OK, think I have it sorted.
Bought small sander and sanded best I could.
Bought some thick wallpaper and tried it out.
Seems to have worked. Drying now and can't see any inperfections yet.
Probably should have put some lining on, but we'll see.
Thanks for all your advice guys0
