RBS non-sterling transaction fee

I can't seem to find the answer to this on the RBS website, so hopefully someone here can help.

I've got an RBS platinum credit card, interest-free on purchases for another 12 months. Last week, I used it to book a hotel in Malta which to get the best rate needed a €171 deposit. This has been taken, along with RBS pocketing their non-sterling transaction fee.

What I'm wondering is, will I be charged interest on the fee or does it come under the interest-free umbrella? And if it is subject to interest, presumably I can wipe it out by making a payment to that value then just continue with the minimum payments (+ a little extra) to keep the 0%?

Thanks in advance.
