How to win wedding comps?

Is there a knack to increasing your odds? I've entered literally millions of competitions over the years a not won a thing! Now we have a year to go until our wedding and thinking of starting to try again for things like photography, dress etc.
Any serious compers here have any tips?

There's a dedicated comping thread where all the experienced compers hang out. May be worth asking there.
My tip (I've done fairly well over the years with some pretty big prizes) is just keep going......if you haven't entered you can't win. Some of the compers on the comping thread may have some comments about how bloggers seem to have the edge- but you can read the comments and decide for yourself !

As above, but make sure you read the comping rules carefully (https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1014121) and don't enter via the various competition sites out there as most are spammy. The spammy ones won't be listed on MSE.
Remember to tick the thanks and entered button - as much for your own records of what you've entered. (I also think karma helps with these things so a thanks doesn't go amiss
)
Don't enter more than once (unless it (rarely) say unlimited entries). You may find you're disqualified otherwise.
Obviously the big comps will have lots of entries - like ITV ones (mind you, no idea if they've dabbled in wedding comps or not). Postal or 'effort' comps will probably have fewer entries.
Use a separate comping email address. Check it daily.
Good luck

Most of the wedding ones do seem to involve a lot of effort - a paragraph or so about your wedding, unusual pictures, proposal video etc. we are having quite an unusual wedding so hopefully we'll be "different" enough to get picked.0

I won quite a few 'weddingy' comps. I made our wedding extremely personal and that seemed to help a lot.
I don't think there's a 'nack' you just have to stand out from every other bride.
I even got ours featured in OK Magazine - well just the reader's section but still :-) and got a bottle of champers for the effort.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Wow that's amazing
Congratulations. What did you have to do for that comp? 0 -
Not a lot really ha ha ha, I looked for loacl wedding competitions and made sure I wrote as much as I could.
If your wedding could be anyone's (ie just different bride/groom) I don't 'think' you'd stand out, but add in a load of personal touches etc and you're more likely to stand out.
I've entered a few 'proposal' competitions too as our proposal was a little bit different and we've won a burger meal for 2 with The Burger Company for that, depends if you want BIG prizes or just smaller local ones.
I think it's any excuse to talk about your wedding - I love it almost a year on ha ha ha.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I won a spa break for me and a friend a few years ago we had a lovely time. I think i won it through a local small magazine for brides (but i entered so many i was never sure i even asked spa but they didn't know lol)'. Local competitions will have less people entering. Look round all the local hotels and spa's see if they have any competitions running on their websites or facebook pages. Good luck.0

Thank you all. I'm going to start a blog and hope that makes us more attractive too. Our wedding will be at a farm, with tipis and straw bales, with DIY catering, and a pagan handfasting ceremony. I'm hoping we're 'different' enough lOL!0

Also, check the T&Cs as some will be picked at random (regardless of what you come up with).
Save what you write too - you may be able to use the gist of it for most entries.
