Abbey don't recognise account number

Had a letter back from Abbey in regards to me reclaiming charges from my mortgage account.

Got a letter back today saying they did'nt recognise the account number and that I would have to make a new request with the correct account information.

Thing is, I double checked my account number twice and the one I sent them was spot on.

Has anyone experienced anything similar?. I can't seriously believe they havent found the account with my mortgage on it.

What should I do because if I send them another request will they send me the same reply.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
