in Credit cards
Hi All
I hope someone can answer my question
I have an Aqua Card ( I have bad credit status and can not get a better card) and I am about to receive my first statement.
First of all are Aqua a reputable and safe company?
Who are the people behind Aqua?
I ask this because I was planning to pay my first statement in cash at my bank but when I asked if this was possible Aqua said it can take up to 2 weeks for the money to clear on my account and I would be better off paying via my bank debit card either online or over the phone.
They do not even take other credit card payments to pay this card. (I own a Luma card as well as my Aqua)
So my question is: can I trust Aqua with my bank debit card details?
I just need some reassurance!
Sorry if this post is confusing?
Thanks in advance

Yes, they are reputable.
Cash is always gong to be the slowest option. Pay online or even better, set up a DD.0 -
I'll throw a question back to you: Which Aqua card did you get? Personally, I took an Aqua Advance card which reduces the interest rate by 5% every year if I don't miss a payment and I don't exceed my limit. I started with 34.9% APR and £250 limit and now 18 months later my APR is 29.9% and my limit is £3,350.
Who is behind Aqua? That's a very good question: Officially it's SAV Credit but some people appear to think that Halifax is behind it but I don't have any evidence to offer which supports that.
As for Direct Debit and Debit Card payments, I do both with DD covering the minimum payment and Debit Card for extra payments. Never had a problem with either of these. I allow 10 days for a payment to arrive on time but nevertheless payments go through in 3-4 working days. In general you get around 15 days between the production of a statement and the minimum payment being due.
Overall, I have nothing but praise for Aqua.0 -
Probably a question you should have asked before entering into a credit agreement with themHi All

Have you looked at your credit agreement, back of your statement or even searched their website?Who are the people behind Aqua?
So what was their response when you said it only says at least 5 working days on the back of your statement? :huh:I ask this because I was planning to pay my first statement in cash at my bank but when I asked if this was possible Aqua said it can take up to 2 weeks for the money to clear on my account and I would be better off paying via my bank debit card either online or over the phone.
Your trying to pay a credit card debt off with a credit card? :eek:They do not even take other credit card payments to pay this card. (I own a Luma card as well as my Aqua)
No wonder you've not a very good credit history.
Only cards that allow a balance transfer can be used to pay another card, and all BT's today seem to attract a fee, whether that be an administration fee, interest from the outset or both.
I hope the answers I have given you have now provided you with enough information to help you decideSo my question is: can I trust Aqua with my bank debit card details?

Not really Aquamania
Everyone else was polite and you were not!
I have 2 credit cards as I am trying to get credit worthy!
I am paying off the full balance every month!!
There is no need to be patronising as nobody else was!
The credit card I was trying to pay with had a balance of £40 on it and I was trying to pay the balance of £68 on the other one, so not exactly thousands!
Stop being so judgemnetal and rude and try and be a bit like Anthorn and ZX81 in the future.
Thanks0 -

How was I not being polite?
You asked the questions - i answered them
No intention to be judgemental - except about Aqua which is what you were asking about
OK - I'll let the FT decide

Thats not judgemental then???0 -
Thanks anyway people
I will pay with my debit card as the general consensus is that
I can do that safely0 -
I used to pay with a debit card on occasion, and didn't have any issues.
The reason Aqua are sometimes associated with Halifax is because Halifax used to run at least some parts of the card, so phone numbers and emails would have a Halifax signature.0 -
Lot's of people here have Aqua cards and rest assured, it's quite safe to give them your bank details. I've had mine since last December and I've not had any problems with them whatsoever.
Payments via direct debit and faster payments are the easiest to do and much quicker than paying cash.

I always pay via faster payment from my bank account. The payment is available immediately on my credit card balance, and usually shows on my statement within a day or two. Easy.
