End of tenancy clean up...

Getting a professional in Vs do it yourself

I know as soon as I get the keys to my new place I want to spend as little time possible where I am now.

Has anyone had a professional cleaner in to tidy up for them? Was it worth it? Or should I just suck it up and take a day out to do it myself? Even though I'd rather be painting my nice new bedroom ;)

I probably will end up doing myself, that money could be put towards a new sofa at the end of the day haha Just wondered if there's that much difference, if they'll be armed with steam cleaners and carpet washers! Compared to me with my J-cloths and mr muscle.

If you live near an army base there will be people used to providing services - look for 'March Out' cleaning

£96 sounds cheap to me! The cheapest quote I could find for a previous move out was around £250 for a 3 bed house. Agents tried to charge us £450...

We've just done all the cleaning on our place (checkout inspection: tomorrow). Fun way to spend a bank holiday weekend. Basically it took us 2 entire days to get it as close to spotless as possible. The thing to bear in mind with cleaners is that they will clean, but not tidy - you still need to do all the tidying first. Still, for £96 I'd pay a cleaner to save my back!

When we moved out of our last place we got a rather snooty letter from the Letting Agent reminding us that we needed to get the flat professionally cleaned (including carpets), and recommending their preferred cleaning firm.

I replied to remind them that the check-in inspection did not think that the flat and the carpets were cleaned to a professional standard and that we would not be using their firm. We just paid our usual cleaner for 3 hours (2 bed flat) and gave the carpets a shampoo. They didn't dispute anything about the cleaning (they did dispute a load of other stuff, although we stood our ground and they eventually accepted our offer of £50 towards some repainting).
Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
