They're driving me crackers!

I wrote to A&L and Barclays to reclaim my bank charges...Barclays wrote back and said they'd pay up, A&L waited until the FO got involved. Both have now offered me my money back, and I've accepted.

Barclays wrote and asked me to sign a slip, and they'd credit a named account within 10 working days. So I called after 12, and apparently theres a 'delay' but they can't tell me when I'll get it.

Then I get a letter from A&L; who have just told me that they've credited an account I thought was closed - it's apparently 'pending closure' - it would have been for about 4 years now!!!! And, of course, it's being dealt with by a different department who only work Mon-Fri...so I have no idea how I'm going to get that money now :mad: Moronic.

Not as far as I am aware - I paid it all back - the statements they sent me showed that....

Well I just called again - to try and find out the balance of the account, as I'm somewhat concerned that they've not closed the account after all this time (the statements - which I dearly wish I hadn't shredded now, stopped at around 2002/3 with no balance showing on the account. I've heard nothing from them in all this time, and nothing is showing on my credit reports with a balance outstanding).

I was taken through 'security' which involved asking me if I had a overdraft facility, cheque numbers, direct debits on the account - I'm like, how the !!!! am I supposed to remember. She then took great delight in telling me I've failed the security checks and to basically get lost.

Arrrgggghhhhhhhhhh. I seriously hate them, they were useless when I banked with them....and now I find they can't even close the account properly!
