sorry if this has been done to death but i did do a quick search and counldnt find what i was looking for.
to start off with i'm not technical minded, i just about kow what i need to now about computers so if i'm asking the impossible feel free to say so.
i'm looking for a spread sheeet that i can show use to display my
mortgage term
interest rate
monthly payment
extra payments that month (these will probly vary)
debt left to date
adjusted mortgage term
then i want to press enter and like magic my figures are all there!:D
is it possible?
we are on a fixed rate mortgage for 10 years, due to start in the next few weeks (still waiting for a completion date) our aim is to try and reduce it as much as we can in that time as we have taken the mortgage back to the 25 years milestone!
also our mortgage lenders will i believe allow us to increase our direct debit so we may do that to round up our monthly payment, but any extra payments must be an amount of at least £250 so i will possibly have to save that then pay that amount off when i have it. so i will be looking into a nice high interest account to save that in, will also transer any left over money at the end of the month into that account and i plan to get a mortgage pig, i also use greasy palm and do paid surveys so the little bits will all add up i'm sure. anything else i should be doing?
thanks in advance

Ok
It will be possible to produce what you are asking for, however, if you look at the 'stickys' at the top of the Mortgage Thread, there are already links to calculators that will give you the answer to all your questions.
Save one of the calculators in your favourites and return to it as many times as you want!
Easy ....Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts - 1420 Days To Go!LBM: £103,592.98 / Currently £78,500.08 - Down 24.22% / Mortgage: £92,800.00 / Loan: £17,284.21 / Overdraft: £450.09 / C/Card 0%(October 08): £5,601.54 / C/Card 0% (January 09): £1075.22 / Child Care: £137.80
Share Investments: £51,390.74 / Money Owed From GS: £5,812.610 -
i have been using the calculators...quite alot, they are a bit addictive (crikey hope tht it isnt just me!...)just worked out if i only paid of a fiver each month i would still save 3 months of mortgage payments! i will definatly try and remember that next time i'm in boots - £5 doesnt even buy me a lip gloss!0

Hi.....
I'm that bored (and sad?) that I spent all morning making myself a spreadsheet, then noticed it does pretty much everything you wanted.
Perhaps it will be of use to you.... Any questions, give us a shout.

I've uploaded it to the above link, hope thats allowed... If any one wants to move it to a better location, thats fine.0 -
Thanks for the spreadsheet!! Quick question tho...If you want to find out how much you pay per month to be mortgage free in X amount of years, use Tools > Goal Seek
Ummmm... then what do I do??? . Sorry to be dense....:rotfl:
TakaMortgage free as of 12/08/20!
MFiT-5 no 45You can't fly with one foot on the ground!0 -
Its ok, you're not dense....
Goal seek should open up a new window.
The first box is the reference of the cell you want change... make that 'K7' (no quotes).
The second box is what you want it to be, so type in your desired repayment period here.
The third box is the value that excel will change in order to get the chosen cell to the required number, so set that to 'K4' (no quotes).
Excel should do some really quick jiggery pokery trial and error stuff, then hit OK, and you *should* have your required monthly payment...
Note the 7000 quid is cos I made an overpayment in Jan. You probably want to delete / change that!

If I try and download the SpreadSheet developed and posted by Craigo then my virus software 'Fsecure' goes bonkers. Is "sendspace" safe please?0

Is "sendspace" safe please?
Sorry, no idea. I only just opened the account today with the sole purpose of uploading that file. No where else to put it you see! It seemed ok to me though.
The spreadsheet is definitely virus free.... but berhaps I can email it to someone who can host it elsewhere?0 -
I couldn't download it either, I sent you a PM craigo, I have some space but don't really know how to link to it.
If you want to mail it to me I'll have a go and host it for you if I can work out the linking bit & post a link here.
Cheers,

Nice,
I'm new to this site but looking to give up full time work in a few years. This spreadsheet helped confirm my targets.
Thanks,

I'll host it too.
My email is available on my website which is in my profile.
I'll then post the link to it too.
I have a spreadsheet that works out all manner of details without using the goal seek option.
I'll have a look at posting the link for that too.
