After taking advice from this site, I opened a Barclays basic account the day before I went BR. I told them I would BR the following day - they were great. It's a basic account with a debit card. That's it. You won't get internet or phone banking. But the OR WILL leave this account as your living account. All of my other accounts were closed quite quickly, but whatever you do, don't touch any other account once you've declared BR. Good luck!0
