Complaint about Parcel Force

Normally when Parcel Force attempt to deliver a parcel with no-one in, they leave a card which says to phone and arrange another delivery, or they take it to our town Post Office for collection.
Yesterday they left my parcel with the next door neighbour - our new next door neighbour at that. They are always out. I have tried four times, knocking on the door, to no avail.
I phoned Parcel Force to ask them what they thought they were playing at. Their response was that they can leave a parcel anywhere they like as long as they get a signature!! They don't give a damn about where they leave it! Their instructions are to leave it anywhere they can get a signature.
They we wonder what happens to our parcels.
My Seller will now have evidence of signature on delivery even though I haven't got the parcel.
Brilliant isn't it.

RM/Parcel Force are on to a loser here, they can't do right for doing wrong. I personally would be delighted if packages were left with my next door neighbour as I leave the house for work at 6.30am and get back home at 7.30pm, making it impossible to get to their depot except on a weekend (and today I'm working too, so next weekend). I guess "one man's meat" and all that. Two people, two ideal opposite resolutions
They are delivering parcels and especially letters at a fraction of what anyone else charges, and if security is of the essence then that's what special delivery is for.0 -

That's weird. When i've phoned them at work to complain about them not leaving it in a garage, with a neighbour or something as specified by the customer (ie in a note on the door because they've popped out to collect their kids from school!) they say they can't leave it anywhere else, or with anyone else, unless specified by the sender. Your sender must have asked for it to be left with a neighbour if you're out.0 -
No my sender did not ask for this to be done.
Neither would I.
It was bought from a US Seller and came via Parcel Force.
Parcel Force said that the only thing I could do was to get the sender to mark on the parcel "deliver to this address only" to ensure that this is done.
Their Management directive is that they MUST leave the parcel somewhere else wherever possible.
Ridiculous isn't in it.0 -

The parcel came in from the USA on a signed-for, insured service.
They should NOT be delivering it anywhere else.
I had a set-to with the Royal Mail this morning who delivered four items to me, four of which were Recorded Delivery and he said "shall I just sign this form for you?". He got his head in his hands and his brain to play with.
How dare they do this?0 -
Round here we don't talk to our neighbours so I don't think it is right for companies to try and leave parcels with them. On one occasion royal mail tried to deliver a large parcel. They left no card, put the parcel back in the car, drove off and I never seen them or that parcel again.0

I think they dare because of this.... From the ParcelForce Worldwide website
"2.2.1
the Customer acknowledges and agrees that Parcelforce Worldwide may at its discretion attempt to deliver the Consignment to a neighbouring address within a reasonable distance of the delivery address"0 -
The Royal Mail are NOT allowed to do this so why should Parcel Force?0

I don't know, I'm showing you their conditions which shows you that they are allowed to leave it with a neighbour, and that the people you spoke to when you called are correct.0 -

...alternatively, they did it because their customer said they could.0 -

I doubt that that would hold up in court. They are entering into a contract to deliver to the person (or business) at the given address, if the neighbour were to keep the item, who would be liable to get it back? If they haven't delivered it to the addressee then it has not been delivered and they have not fulfilled their contract.
I've had similar problems with receiving recorded delivery letters, the postman seems to think that getting a neighbour to sign is good enough, it isn't..0
