Credit card advice

Hello MSE

My first posting on here....so be gentle

I am looking for advance on a recent TSB credit card application.....

I already have a santander 123 account with OD of £750 but after continual issues with a cancellation marker on one of my direct debits i gave up and decided to switch

i have recently opened TSB plus current account was accepted online instantly with no overdraft? ( i did not opt for the switching service as in my experience DDs are never set up in time) once my online banking info arrived i applied for an OD to match my santander the decision was referred and gave me a number to call. I spoke with a very helpfull customer service agent who advised me my internal credit score is good i just need 3 months of account activity. Which is fine i suppose i dont live in my overdraft so i can go 3 months without one :-)

I also applied for the TSB credit card at the same time as the overdraft. i completed the online app but the decsion was not instant? We are processing your application and will respond by email in 4 working days

here comes my question - Does this mean my credit card app will also be declined or referred in the same way as the requested overdraft? there was no number to call just a ref

Should i start looking else where? or hold out for a couple of months and apply online again?

I have heard from the forum that even if rejected i have a good chance of appeal is this correct?

It doesn't necessarily follow that your CC application will be rejected because the overdraft one was, as they're essentially independent processes. If the reason behind the overdraft rejection was simply a lack of current account history then that shouldn't affect a CC application at all, although there could be other reasons for that not being accepted, e.g. any other credit arrangements you have. Wait and see what the answer is and take it from there....

Ok thanks for the advice eskbanker, the only agreements I have are with Santander - capital one and very catalogs no missed payments in 4 years. Like you said I will just have to wait and see
