I got a phone call from Windows this morning telling me that my computer was crying and sending out help messages over the internet because I was mistreating it and he was going to fix it..
OK, made that last bit up.
So I began winding the caller up and because my computer wasn't connecting to the internet, I had pulled the ethernet cable out, I was told to start it in safe mode by tapping F8.
Of course windows 8.1 won't start in safe mode tapping F8.
I was instructed to type in msconfig and go to the boot tab and tick safe boot and networking and restart my computer.
And what do you know, it started in safe mode?
I never knew that.

Last time I got one of these calls he told me my windows Pc was acting up so I asked him which of my three machines it was (xp-32 7-64 or 8-64) he kept telling my it was my windows machine & I kept asking which 1.
After a few minutes he asked my if I had mental problems & hung up, made my day0 -
I kept one talking for about 45 minutes as well, but he got really nasty in the end. Told me he could trace my home from my phone number and he was going to come and set fire to me as I was a very nasty person.
These scammers are truly the scum of the earth, it has been recommended to me that in future you ask about their mother, and ask if she is proud of what their son is doing- apparently it is the only thing that anyone has ever said that has upset them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I get these all the time. Last time I asked the woman calling which computer she was referring to.......
.....And, would you believe it, she told me to get lost?

Awwww I feel bad now, I only managed to keep my guy on the line for about 20 mins! But I did get him to hang-up on me
small victory.

I did this last year too, but they call me every couple of weeks so I'm running out of ways to annoy them. Usually I just give the phone to the psycho-toddler who tells them all about her My Little Ponies. As they continue to call I can only conclude that they share her love of plastic toys with nylon hair in day-glo colours.
My dream would be to get them on a conference call with the idiots who reckon I was missold PPI :rotfl:0 -
A good way to prolong the call. Tell them the computer is not switched on.
7 Minutes the other day. I put the phone down and thought they would have hung up. Nope still there.
I was in 2 minds.. Pretend it crashed on 1st startup and was rebooting or tell them i couldnt find the computer.
I went with option 2. I said i cannot find the computer. They asked if it was a laptop. I said no its a large black tower box. Connected to a 24" monitor.
Its not where it should be. Do you know where it is. CLICK....
Awww they hung up.
I didnt have the time to sit there making excuses up and saying its crashed again.
That was a long call last time.
I may play on the family aspect next time.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
My mum got a call from "Windows Support" one day, she told them they're double glazed already and that the council gives her support when they don't open and hung up LOL
Bless her, she is 79 and thinks her new see through kettle is hi-tech LOL he never stood a chance!
