hey was wondering if anyone could help me ...
my dro ended in January this year :j
but im now worried about my renewal of car insurance.
done some quotes and to my luck have had good quotes of £43 - £57 pm
much better than my first year of over £2000 +
i am now worried i wont be allowed to pay monthly and can not afford to pay it annually if i could i would as it is over a £100 cheaper.
anyone had a dro and had problems with getting car insurance monthly after being discharged???
or anyone know which insurers will accept monthly payments
thanks

I have recently gone with a relatively new insurance company called Go Skippy........I had no problem in getting insurance monthly by them and I'm still in my 1 year DRO period......DRO approval date 12/12/13
DRO finish date - 12/12/14 - Completed
Now to clean up that credit file and pass my driving test!0 -
I think the truth is that the pay monthly option varies from company to company.
AXA, One Call and Esure are 3 companies which have allowed pay monthly for me.
Have heard that Swinton, Admiral and Direct Line will decline the monthly option if you are insolvent.0 -
I had a nightmare with go Skippy Insurance last October. Declared 5 years no claims, sent off proof. Basically my previous insurer Hastings had reported an "accident" to the mid. And said I had zero no claims. I pointed out that the mid was wrong, but they hiked my insurance price up whilst investigating.
Then when Hastings reviewed my file on demand, they confirmed it was wrong, and a accident never occured. (Was in Australia at the time). Took 5 letters and various phonecalls to change the policy back to what i had declared was correct.
Then had a huge hassle of leaving go skippy. Now happy and settled with Churchill, who don't mind my dro as long as they get their premium.0 -

Seems to vary from person to person.
I had a really good quote from Hastings, who my son's car is insured with but they declined me on a credit check.
Went to Direct Line and they were fine. However we do have house and car insurance with them already and that was in place before the IVA giving us a credit history with Direct Line where as son's insurance was paid in full so no credit history with Hastings.

I was with admiral and on a 10 month policy when I started my iva. When my policy was up for renewal I found a cheaper quote with Hastings. I was declined due to credit check. Went back to admiral who said they could renew my insurance but couldn't put me on 12 month policy as requested. I had been paying over the odds on my car insurance due to not wanting to take the chance with any other insurer until this year. Finally got a quote almost £1000 cheaper with Hastings. I was declined monthly payments but was able to pay it in full as it was so cheap0
