How to block sites in IE11?

Please somebody tell me how to do this as explorer is really getting on my wick.
I have tried to add the sites I want to block to the internet security tab but the sites dont block (even though they are added to the list). This is not settings for any other users its just me the main user.
I would love to install IE and just use Firefox but this isnt really an option.
(Windows 7 laptop)
