Hello
we are re-doing our bathrooms
would like to fit WALL Extractor Fans with timer
can anybody suggest a model which they are happy with-efficiency, noise and price wise.
Any advice on where to buy it would be very useful too.
Many Thanks

have a serious think about putting an inline fan in instead of wall fan, thet are at least 3 times more powerful and installed in loft space so no electrics in bathroom i have just installed one of these and iam really happy with it

I kind of agree but it's quite simple.
1stly, don't go for a crappy little 4" unit, you can breath out more steam than they remove. You can't escape physics, the tube dia is paramount.
In line units are good but so are bigger roof mounted units.
Go for a min 6"/150 units, but check the extraction rate figures given with all these. It will give litres/ cu mtrs per min/hr
Figure it out.
You will have heard of the better manf, vortex, expelair etcI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Dx200s are popular with our customer if surface mounted. If we have access to loft space than a xid100 works well
150 is way too large for your average bathroom unless the duct run is over 15m .The xid we fit with large raindance heads and with a 3min overrun the moisture is gone
Other alternatives are the new silent fans from vent axia that have a permanent trickle extraction. Low power consumption so won't cost the earth to runHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
i fitted 4" vent axia wall unit, after researching and looking around, couldnt fit an inline due to roof design and its rubbish, must help a bit but very disappointed and quite loud, but at least one is in.
A quick shower, fan on, bathroom door open and its not too bad.
the only other is fitting an industrial fan in there but who wants that0 -

That's actually the route I went, provided you use an inline unit, (if you can site it correctly so it is isolated from the ceiling), the noise is minimal but the effect is far greater.
What I do like though are the type that have motorised grills, Vortex do them in most sizes, the last I fitted was 5" and not expensive at all. They do prevent insect life and hold the heat better.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

.....and set the timer to run for a decent period after you leave the room !0
