We have a garage door that needs tidying up - it is a white "plastic coated steel" Compton door - what is the best paint to do the job ?
And what is the procedure to prepare the door before painting ?

The main rule is scrub the door clean, sand the surface for grip, treat any damaged/corroded areas then paint.;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

Do you mean HAMMERITE ?

If so - no good - I've used hammerite before (on a newly sandblasted and zinc primed pair of garden gates and it lasted less than 6 months before peeling off....)0 -
Standard exterior gloss works for me, it's the prep that can screw it up as I touched on earlier.
There are colours that fare better in direct light, I think green is the best, google it,
;) I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

White should be fine, there's an issue with "safe or green" oil based paints yellowing, but when exposed to UV waves it prevents it.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I really should spray rather than brush it on - shouldn't I ?
The door will be in situ though - masking !!0
