Hi I'm trying to fond out what benefits I'm entitled to and how much. My husband has been maitaining me and the children but the past week he has started to be really horrid which has accumulated in violence this morning when he came round to my house. I'm aware of what I should do with regards the violence but I need to focus on benefits as I don't have a job. My priority are the children. Could someone give some guidance as to how much and what I can claim. I have 3 children 5,4,3 a mortgage, council tax, water meter, and other usual household expences. I have no idea where to start. He has been so threatening this morning and told me I'm no longer to get anything off him. I know about the CSA but they take an age and my need is now. Please can anyone give some guidance thanks.

You can try www.entitledto.com they are pretty good not sure where you stand with mortgage go straight to CSA and if you know his earnings then you can work out how much he should be paying by using their maintainance calculator using this link https://secureonline.dwp.gov.uk/csa/v2/en/calculate-maintenance.asp
Get him reported and protect yourself you have too for your childrens sake.
Good luck

If you are not working you should be entitled to Income support for yourself and tax credits for the children. If you have rent to pay, you will get housing benefit and council tax benefit. The CSA will automatically make an assessment if you are on Income Support and you will get to keep up to £10 per week of this on top of your benefits. If you are in mortgaged accommodation you may not have to wait the usual 9 months if your partner has abandoned you.0

In this situation, please go to citizens advice and get advice on this properly.
If you claim Income Support you will only receive a set amount of £10 a week of the maintainence anyway so this will probably make very little difference to you at the moment unless you return to work immediately so I wouldn't worry about that.
Contact your local social security office and ask for an application form for Income Support while you are waiting to see citizens advice team, gets the ball rolling. You may already be getting the tax credits for the children unless your partner is claiming them, would also enquire about this. You should also be applying for council tax benefit, then the housing benefit which usually will help cover interest payments.
Good luck, sounds like you're getting out just in time. One day I might be more organised...........
