As the title suggests. My daughter has put a code (numeric, not a pattern, which apparently would be easier to fix
),on her Nexus 7,and has forgotten it.
From a couple of hours Googling last night it seems the only thing we can do is reset to factory settings. Is this right?I wouldn't worry about that except that it means she will lose all her photos on it.
Do we really need to reset to factory settings,or does anyone know another way?
If we do this, will we need to pay to re-install McAffee? Most the games on it were free downloads,so that is fine, but wondering if we now need to pay lots to have it protected again.
My children had been told repeatedly not to put codes on their tablets.I think they now see the wisdom of our warnings............

Have you not had the "forgotten pin/pattern?" option?0

Ummmm....not sure.
All we have been doing is typing in 4-digit numbers. We are given afew chances, then locked out for 30 seconds, then we try again.Online, (and I don't know what t depends on ) ,people are saying if you try enough times you will be asked "forgotten your password?",but this never happens for us.
Thank you for replying,Grumpycrab:I appreciate it.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76

Does she not have any autoback up settings for the pics?
Does she have Google+?
This defaults to backing up the pictures0 -

We have now got into the tablet using facial recgnition, but can not remove the password protection without confirming the (forgotten) password. Have now managed to download photos via linking to a PC now. We don't know how to access facial recognition, daughter just said that it "popped up", so don't know if this is a "one off" to assist with lost passwords, so we have set the sleep and screen lock to 30 minutes.SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76

looking in security settings, we've tried going into "screen lock" but the first thing that it asks you is to confirm PIN.......SPC #36 :staradminx 8.SPC7=£751.10 SPC8=£651.04 SPC9=£843.00 SPC10=£872.76
