I have had this done in the past but be very careful if you do it yourself because if you take a little too much you will have very painful feet and do not do at all if you have diabetes.

I have a micropedi which I got on special offer at Boots. It is utterly amazing. The only problem I have with my feet is hard skin so it saves me having to get them professionally done. What I really like about it is that it is so quick even when my heels are really bad.

I have microplane graters for cheese and chocolate I wonder if they are similar :D So far the ped egg does for me but if I see the one of the others on offer I might be tempted.

However, apparently its true, people do use a razor to shave their feet. I thought she was having me on but it does sound safer than a chiropody blade if it works and you're doing it yourself.

I can't see how a razor works- the strip is there to stop you cutting yourself. L
I know someone that uses a mini sander on her feet. I don't fancy it but she swears by it!

I've used this, it it has some circular blades that shave off hard skin, and it's not expensive http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/boots-price-comparison/General_Health/Scholl_Instant_Hard_Skin_Remover_File.html

Let me reiterate that this should not be attempted by anyone with diabetes. Any wounds could be very serious, even leading to amputation.

^ I would hope that anyone with diabetes will know this as foot care will have been highlighted along with the many other things a diabetic has to monitor.

I've shaved my feet with a disposable razor in the past, just a very gentle scrape over the heels to shave off the thickest layers of skin. Pumice stones and foot scrubs never really do anything for me so I need to cut the hard skin off. I don't think it would have been possible to cut myself with the razor but I did once shave too much skin off which made it painful to put weight on my heel for a few weeks until it thickened again. It is easy to overdo it with a razor so but very effective.

You're right of course, but it never hurts to reiterate it. When first diagnosed so much information is showered upon the diabetes patient some of it can either be forgotten or not absorbed.

I've used nail clippers on hard dead skin on my feet :o, but never a razor
