do they still do that? I know some used to,but thought they stopped
Southwest allow you to rebook if the price decreases, you still pay the same amount but they will credit your account with the difference. You have to use the credit within a year.Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face - Mike Tyson0 -

Check the small print
http://www.easyjet.com/en/terms-and-conditions#a26"The only exception to this “price promise” is if the lower fares have been offered as part of a promotional offer that is launched after You have purchased the Flight."
So, if they have a sale on after you buy the ticket the price promise doesn't apply.0 -

Why?
Virgin Atlantic offered the OP a price, the OP was happy with that price and Virgin Atlantic will provide the service that was paid for.
Seems like a perfectly fair transaction to me.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
True
But in the USA there are airlines (and cruise CO's) that will guarantee that if the price you pay then goes down they will refund the difference.
Rip off Britain
Yes Southwest do (not sure about any of the other LCC) but the US legacy airlines don't -and I'd consider Virgin to be more akin to a legacy airline like say American rather than a LCC like Ryanair so your comparison isn't really a fair one.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

when AA used to have their price promise it wasn't a refund, it was vouchers toward a future flight (within a year if memory serves). The one time I used it (over 13 years ago) I never had the opportunity to use the voucher, though it was a nice programme in principle.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0

No its not perfectly fair. By sale they are indicating that they are offering a special price, lower than whats normal. To then drop it significantly again after the so called sale has finished is just not fair.its conning their customers and putting pressure on them to buy within a certain timeframe and be rewarded with a discount.
A bit like when airlines state hurry!, only 2 seats left, when they clearly have half a plane load.
It is a shady practice and who can blame their customers for feeling cheated.0 -

Yes, but when you see something at 50% off in a shop there's no guarantee that it won't be 75% off the following week if it fails to sell.0 -
At least Ryanair and MO'L admitted treating their customers like !!!! finally hurt their business.
Sir RB needs to review Virgins reputation. Their novelty value has now worn off. He was quick to condemn BA dirty tricks. I think thats a pretty dirty trick to pull on any customer. Its all about the overall experience and the OP already is disappointed, even before they fly.0
