Morning! A wet one outside so luckily my brother offered to drop my kids off at school when he called in to drop a couple of things off for me! So dark too out there - I still have our lamps on!

We've got heavy rain here too Bella. It woke me up last night bouncing on the roof & windows. At least you didn't need to get wet taking kids to school :)

I haven't seen any hedgehogs around here this year yet fire**fly. We usually see them wandering along our road tormenting the cats on this road! :) I bet the baby ones are cute when they are out.

Make sure you have a break and a nice coffee while you're out Sylvia! ;) I do love popping in a coffee shop when in town with my sis and have a chat. DH doesn't like paying the price and would rather wait till we got home! :o

It's surprising Claire how many people would enter a comp for chocolate! I agree though, they should thank the OP for comp.

My internet went off again last night right after I got almost a full pint on the Jennings comp! I got a congratulations on the screen but had an email to say I won a runner up prize of t-shirt :j (Yay, a win at last! :D)
Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!

"Gimme free Thorntons" 1624 comments, even ITV comps didn't get that many thanks votes to the op, makes you wonder how many people comp without using the thanks button to log entries.

Thanks for the info Claire. Not quite sure how peeps can not thank an OP for posting a competition anyway, seems only polite to me after the effort peeps put in posting.

Got to agree but it seems to happen quite a bit.I have read various reasons & theories re why it happens but I veer towards your opinion lomaxsylvia.

Worth noting that there are other comping portals that some may use but I still think MSE has all bases covered & none can compare re numbers & functionality.

    re: the views/thanks Claire,
lots of lurkers/peeps 'bump' the comps views numbers up by just clicking on the page so the view figures are always higher than
    the thanks,
I've often seen members viewing the mag comps weekly/monthly/etc & they don't 'thank' so therefore the viewing figures will as said always be higher :)
same for the supposedly 'popular' comps,
the more times a peep/peeps/ click on to view the page
each time the viewing figures go up :)
&/or lots of peeps will click on the page to view the comp/s but decide not to enter/or pass by the comp so again that would be another 'click' to add to the viewing figures :)

    Morning all!

Actually nice and sunny here for a change today! Felt like it was nothing but wind and rain for the last two weeks! lol

Hope you're all well. I enjoyed my chocolate last night, and gave OH the other one which kept him happy! :)

I agree about thanking posts. I always do it. Helps me keep track, and also just polite to the person who posted the comp.

Didn't bother with the Thornton's chocs though. Not that bothered about them, tbh so better to leave someone else to win them who will be thrilled :)

    Have a great day!

    xx

    Hi,thanks for the ideas.
I think what Claire was referring to was that the MSE Chocolate comp has over 1700 entries currently & it is rare to see a MSE listed comp with that amount of thanks showing.
As the only entry method on the MSE comp is to post on the thread the MSE functonality cannot be used so a true view of entry numbers can be seen.
    Just my opinion of course.

Claire, take this comp for example,
    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5091425
it's had 105 views up to now,
    but only 10 thanks,
4 of those 'views' I contributed to before because I clicked on 4 times, but didn't thank because I hadn't entered/wasn't sure of the answer,
so now someone has come along & posted the answer,
    therefore, I've viewed it again,
adding to the viewing figures, thanked the peep for the answer
& then 'viewed' again to enter/thank the op so you've had about 6/7 views added again to the viewing figures,
it happens on loads of comps :)
