Atos Home Visit Help Please :(

You have already had some very good advice on this thread.
I had my ATOS assessment last year - like you I had a home visit.
Just a couple of practical tips:
I don't want to alarm you, but be prepared for the visit NOT to be recorded. I too was promised it would be recorded, but the assessor did not bring the equipment with her. (I have reason to believe ATOS never intended to record the meeting...but that's another story!)
Make sure you have any prescribed medication on hand. The assessor will probably want to make a note of it for the assessment record.
If you are uncomfortable talking to the assessor, remember that your girlfriend can talk on your behalf - this is allowed.
Depending on when you sent off the extra evidence (the medical report you obtained), the assessor may not have seen it - you might like to take a photocopy of your own copy and give it to the assessor on the day. (If you get a receipt from her then you will also KNOW that ATOS have a copy of it_
Above all, at the assessment, be yourself! Don't try and show yourself in a 'good light' - and equally don't try and show yourself as being worse than you are.
Good luck!
Thankyou for helping still worrying every day ugh I only take 2 meds at the moment does that even matter?0 -
Does anyone know if its strange doctors carrying out home visits, as most threads ive seen its HCP0

Hi OP,
A home visit isn't strange at all - if you cannot attend a centre, they come to you.
Perhaps show them this side of your illness and the frantic/unsettled/panic and you should be fine.
Have a look at the support group descriptors, and write down how you feel you meet them; you can use this either to give to the doctor, or to help you explain it, as it is written, you can refer to it as you go along and should make you feel more prepared.
Finally, just calm down a little bit (easier said than done, I know) but there is nothing to worry about as long as you show how you meet the descriptors through your illness.0 -

Thats all I am doing right now is worrying the more and more closer the home visit date comes, also I'm only currently taking 2 meds at the moment when other people I know have stated they take alot more will they go against me?0 -

There is no knowing who will carry out the Home visit. Their website says its a Health Care professional.
I know it is very easy to say 'don't worry' but I suspect you have been reading about horror stories on the internet and are feeling anxious.
Say to yourself 'what is the worst thing that can happen?'
Your girl friend will be there. She can reassure you if you get very agitated. It is going to be recorded.
If they award you no points/not enough points and you are found fit for work then you can appeal. You will have the written report of what the assessor has said and you can refute anything that is incorrect. You can get help from MIND or CAB (if yours does out reach sessions) with your appeal.0
