wrong meter reading

Back in Sept 2013 I had a new gas cooker fitted and found that there was a leak on the meter. we had a new one fitted that day. The engineer did not consult us on meter readings when he changed the meter and did not put the reading or meter number on the outside of the meter.
On the following day I entered my meter reading online to Scotttish Power. Unfortunately i put the numbers the wrong way around. It accepted my readings but when i had the bill i was being charged 600.00 for 1 months gas. After a few phone calls and e-mails I was told they had the reading from the engineer and the bill would be amended. 6 Months later , numerous e-mails I have now found out that after paying 69.00 per month and entering my meter readings every few months on the site I have a bill for 566 still owing. I cannot see the bill or the last 2 replies they sent on e-mail as after trying on 3 different pc and file openers they would not open.I am going to send a complaint in writing if i can find the address.
Here is the energy consumption over the last 6 months and payments taken from the site.

Any help with this problem would be welcomed.

Bit of tangle deciphering your figures until I realised the one's highilighted are are the Daily Consumption over the bill periods, which really screams the readings error at the time of the meter change.

You have been very badly let down by the meter change crew by their failure to leave a report card showing the reading on the old meter as it was removed and the new one as it was installed, but I'm afraid this issue is clouded by your error when giving the first reading from the new meter - but the runaround you've had is down to Scot Power

YES - Write that letter and head it Complaint big and bold ( The address will be SP's web site)

I come across many like that. It only takes 30 seconds to fill in the meter exchange details. I think because the details are sent off electronically to the supplier the meter fitters think there`s no need to bother filling in the card or the yellow meter sticker. There is an electronic trail of the old meter so the supplier should have this info

Your gas bill will be based on a meter reading.

    The meter records actual consumption.

How does the meater reading used on the bill compare to that on the meter? Perhaps on occassions the supplier has used an estimated reading?

    Sorry sacsquacco
There may well be an 'In House' electronic system to report meter change details to all the professional parties involved, but here have been a lot of past posts highlighting the fact that a customers supplier doesn't even know the meter has been changed and issued erroneous bills well after the change date
Whats interesting about the OP's post is that on the bill for August - October which covers the meter change, he /she quotes a single cost and meter consumption.
When in fact either 2 bills should have been issued ( 1 for the old meter & 1 for the new meter), or a single bill clearly listing the readings and charges for each meter.
