7.7.07-8.7.07 what small dfw thing will you do or have you done this weekend?

Hello lovely DFWers - old timers and newbies. Welcome to the weekend :j

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging the washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I will do the following:

- see an extra client today
- check online banking and update spreadsheet
- stick to meal plan which means that nothing is needed from the shops therefore hoping for 2 NSDs.
- make some more home made packed lunch goodies for next week
- not increasing my debt in any way
- be positive

I hope everyone has a good weekend xx

    Could you guys do a DFW thing for me please?

    http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/students-grants/

    The petition is to get the extra help which students will get from 2008 instated for this year!
    The costs this year are higher than ever and there's less financial help than there will be next year :( People are even dropping out of university for a year because of this!

    And students in debt will become DFWs one day

    Thanks :)

    Hey guys

    Been a bit of a grotty week and I have let things slip, so the efforts for this weekend are:
    * doing an extra shift in my 2nd job tomorrow
    * will get the bus there and a lift home
    * will get to eat there for free
    * checked online banking
    * wrote a letter to previous car insurers asking for some money back that they took when they shouldn't have
    * will cancel my lovefilm subscription as the films have been sat on my shelf for ages - unwatched!
    * do some paperwork
    * invite a friend over for dinner instead of going out for a meal
    * gonna go hunt out a code for tesco.com

  • Hi everyone

    Today I will write up a new meal plan for the next two weeks using up store cupboard/freezer/fridge items.

    Somewhere on this board I read once that someone is using till slips to add points to their nectar card, so I've been collecting till slips that I find on the floor and adding the points to my card lol. Well if they throw them away I'll have the points thanx.

    Have added hundreds of points to my nectar card that way. Today I added another 100 points to my card by picking up a till slip that was discarded and had 100 points unclaimed on it. Am saving my points towards christmas so even if I pick up one for 2 or 4 points I add it to my card, without even having to spend any money. :T I have been told by Sainsbury's that they only allow you to add two till slips a day, but hey I just do two everyday then!

    Thanx everyone

    Hi all - C_G, I hope you have a nice evening with your friend. Maybe you could watch one of the films after dinner??

    OK for today I have:

    * Used £20 worth of PigsBack Boots vouchers to top up on lots of handy things. Boots were doing BOGOF on Oral B mouthwash too and Imperial Leather shower gel was half price. :j

    * BF treated us to lunch and drinks at our favourite pub.

    * Getting some washing dried on line.

    * QuidCo clicks.

    * Staying in tonight with a film that BF bought this week.

    * Did a DIY facial this morning.

    * Used free texts I have this weekend.

    I will hopefully have more to add tomorrow. :)

    Hi all,

    Things I have done today.

    Handed in my bank charge claim letter into bank (finally after thinking about doing it since last year). :j :A

    Put DS money into his account so he earns interest rather than sit in my handbag for weeks/ months. :o

    Transferred £510 from my current account to DS account as I have no interest in my own account.

    Got 2 x Sun papers using my free Sun coupons for the free solero from Woolworths. :p

    Went to Boots and spent £8.25 on Huggies nappies, Rapid White stick and T&G mini wax (got 540 points back on my advantage card ie £5.40).

    Tescos: spent 11p as I got £6 for stuff brought for DH, used 70p in coupons. Used my 25points voucher valid until today for spending 98p on bakery items (items got last week actually came down by 3p). :T

    Oh and found a 3 point receipt in the basket I was using for my shopping.

    £10 petrol top up at Tesco for my points.

    Received a nice permanent marker I applied for ages ago in the mail. Just in time as my previous marker ran out of ink. :T

    Got £4 Luncheon vouchers for survey I did fairly recently. :A

    Had pasta from fridge for lunch instead of going to McDonalds although it was DH turn to pay. :A

    Was going to go to the cinema but was running late so will delay spending on cinema tickets for at least 1 week.
    Did a little paperwork filing. :T
    Filled out a couple of paper coupon swaps ready to post. :T

    Have done a few clicks.
    Tesco points: 101 (£21.50, £19.50, £7.50, £21 & £5)
    Boots points: £0.28
    Pigsback points: 715 (4 xBoots£10 & 1 xPizzaHut£10, 2 x £10 clothing vouchers)
    Mutual points: 3417 (redeemed 8250)
    Rpoints:redeemed 28925 points)Cashbag:£8.91(£20)

    Today I have had my first no spend day for a very long time, in fact I can't remember ever not spending something even if it's on milk or bread! Really chuffed.

    * Dad is giving me first token from Sun for £9.50 hols
    * Received freebie sweetners which I have put in a bag where I am collecting freebies and discounted items ready to make up prezzie boxes for Christmas
    *made homemade soup which was lovely
    * Did a few surveys
  • not the biggest achievements i know, but i got the train to the gym instead of driving today, which saved me about £11 in petrol and parking. Tomorrow I plan to have a huge breakfast before work so that i dont end up spending shed loads in the work canteen

    I've faffed about on ebay tonight and realised that I can sell off some of my old football programmes that are lying in the garage doing nothing. Dead chuffed one of them could go for upto £20!!! Still I don't really collect them anymore so they may as well go to somebody who can enjoy them.

    OH was a bit bemused whne I shot into the garage just as tea was ready.
