Problem with Thermostatic Mixer Shower

We moved to a property with a thermostatic mixer shower and are finding that it is not working properly in that the water pressure although good, the temperature fluctuates between luke warm and very hot no matter how we adjust the water pressure or the temperature. It is a Grohe and I have read on the net that these are a good reliable brand but we do not know how old it is. It works off our combination boiler and we wondered if this could be the problem too, although it is right next door to where the boiler is situated.

Can it be the thermostat that is broken and can it be repaired ?

Sometimes people add a combi boiler and the old mixer showers can't handle the pressure as they are designed to be gravity fed hot water the only way round that is replacing the shower. Google the model to enquire.

It doesn't have a model number on it, only the brand Frederick Grohe.

If we replace the shower, it is likely the whole bathroom would need re-tiling which we cannot afford to do. Is there any way to find out what the problem is? Would a plumber be able to tell ?

Take a photo of it and send it to customer services at Grohe - they will identify it and tell you if a replacement cartridge is available.
