If your not fussy about a diamond then Etsy is really good. I went for a Pink Sapphire which seemed to bring the price down a lot. We got it handmade from this seller along with this Platinum Diamond wedding band and it cost approx £700 for the two.

Wedding rings, as in the plain gold band?
If your budget is tight & your nerve is of steel, buy from a pawnbroker. (Just don't let on.)
You can get some very nice rings amidst the 'worn for decades' & 'noone in the family gives a hoot' - go talk to them. Small independents have overheads but also competitors... If it isn't already polished & gleaming, ask them to clean it for you.
Then get a glamorous pouch from ebay to present it.

Whatever you do, resist the brightly light high street unless you've a wad of tesco points or the like. The backstreets (Manchester, Birmingham both obvious but most cities have an area where jewellery stores roost & another where the secondhand/preloved market is predominant) can be fertile hunting grounds.

Hoping you can find a ring to love & be delighted in now you've found the right soul!

Why don't you tell us what sort of thing you are after (style, width, metal, size etc) and we can help you look :)

all im wanting is a plain gold band, not too thick as I have my engagement ring on and I also wear my late Nans wedding ring on the ring finger, however this is very thin.
My partner is the same, nothing fancy, just plain, but he has quite large fingers so im thinking a thicker one for him, my budget is only £250 :)
    Skint, but happy (ish):p

Ok cool, is that white gold or yellow gold, 9k or 18k? What widths? That is a huge factor in getting a price. Mine in the pic is 2mm, hubby to be's in the box is 4mm as we both have slim fingers. If you don't know what width you want then I'd highly recommend you trying a few on in shops to get an idea. Obviously time is of the essence for you so probably fastest to try on in shops than order samples to try on from the internet x

£250 should be plenty provided you're after 9k gold, our rings were way under £200 for both and my ring was 18k and a custom order xx

Hi, I used Warsrtone Jewellers at the Jewellery Quarter Birmingham. I think they also advertise on ebay. You might have to call them to get a price as they calculate on current gold prices but to give you an idea I had a plain yellow 18ct gold band, 2.5mm in a D profile, medium weight, engraved for £125. This was alot cheaper than so many shops I'd tried. It also comes in a lovely box. I actually went to the shop and would definately recommend them they were really helpful and have even offered to resize my ring (i'm suffering with swelling joints at the mo) if it isn't right close to my date :-) My ring was ready within a week too.

We've ordered ours from Betts Metal Sales - can't wait for them to arrive. They would have been £798 altogether in the well-known high street store we would have otherwise bought them from. We got them for £273! So that's just over a third of the cost we could have paid. Even if they had had a 50% off sale we still got them cheaper! :)

Edit to add: My ring is an 18ct white gold band - 2mm width, court shape, medium weight. OH's ring is a palladium band - 5mm, court shape, heavy weight. We also signed in as a hobbyist to get the extra reduction. :)

mine came from amazon but the seller was from the jewellery quarter ( british jewellery workshops) its 9ct yellow gold with intricate celtic engraving 4mm and was £198 and came boxed. im guessing a plain band would be much cheaper.
iv just had a quick look prices from the same seller i used seem to start at around £100 for a plain band. but plain 9ct yellow gold 2mm wedding rings on amazon start from about £40 so might be worth a look.
good luck with the search i hope you can find something you love.
iv done 3 things right in my life and their all perfect

I went with Alba Rose in the end, they came today and I am so pleased with them, absolutely beautiful and a fraction of the price I was quoted in stores :)

Thanks for recommending Bettsmetalsales compbunny - we are so happy with ours and we got them for a third cheaper than they are in the jewellers where OH got my engagement ring!

A couple of tips I learnt buying from Bettsmetalsales:

    - The labels 'heavy', 'extra heavy' etc on the rings you try in a jewellers are marked as less so on betts metals. You will probably have a choice of weight of rings (eg light, medium, heavy). The weight indicates the thickness of the ring, basically how far out from the finger it goes - they also tell you this measurement eg 1.6mm, 1.9mm etc. For my fiance we chose a 'heavy' one which I think was 2.2mm as he had tried the extra heavy one in the shop. When it arrived he found it too chunky so we had to send it back to change to the medium, which he is very happy with.

    - Because bettsmetals supply jewellers, the rings listed are 'hallmarked blanks' so you have to add the additional option of a polished/finished ring and if you are getting white gold you will also need it rhodium plated. Mine cost £9.99 to be rhodium plated and finished and it's beautiful. OH's cost three pounds something to be finished (palladium)

    - The prices listed don't include VAT so go to the payment page to get the full price :)

See the details of our rings in my last post and please feel free to ask any questions - we really are so happy with these and saved a fortune! And don't forget to sign up as a 'hobbyist', I nearly did and would have had to pay more.
