Somthing good to say about Windows8

Makes a change to share a positive... A friend's disk died the other day (a rather noisy Maxtor IDE). Tried XP recovery console and chkdsk. Gave up at 33% with "too many bad/irrecoverable partitions".
I extracted the drive and tried in a USB caddy. Even worse.
Last try was to plug it into a spare IDE connector on a Windows8 computer. On bootup Windows8 recognised the bad disk and started an automatic repair - got to 33% - sat there for a few minutes and then suddenly continued to 100%. Pics and docs were recovered but disk must have been on its last legs - excellent Windows8 disk checking!

I think windows 8 is ok once you get a proper start button. It's much better than vista.
Nothing to see here, move along.
