Tiling over old bitumin adhesive?

After reading the post about wall tiling over old uneven adhesive, I thought I'd ask what tilers do to get over the problem of old Bitumin adhesive as used by Marley tiles etc. I have tiled dozens of floors with this problem and always used the same method without any problems--- Scrape as much adhesive off the floor as possible with a metal floor scraper,Go over the area with a metal spiked hedgehog,as used in stripping old wallpaper.Lay a thin coat of Latex screed, floor leveller. Use appropriate adhesive for tiles being laid. However, this project I thought I'd check Screed manufacturer for their advice.Response,No screed is suitable to apply in this situation!!!
