i have come to the conclusion that after reading threads on this board that not allowing my advisor access to my UJM account is the best route
however it says on my claimant commitment that...
was this given to me with the assumption that they would have access to my account ?
should i have disagreed with this when they gave me my claimant commitment or is it given to everyone now?
can i still deny access and meet this requirement and how so?
last thing advisor said was "dont forget to tick those boxes will you" i assume this is still not mandatory
however it says on my claimant commitment that...
i will log in to my universal jobmatch account to find and apply for jobs i can do.

By applying for jobs using Universal Jobmatch and making a record of all the times you search and apply for a job.
You can still provide evidence that you have used Universal Jobmatch to apply for jobs, without giving them access, for example by printing off job applications and presenting them when needed.
However, I never had any problems in producing a detailed word processed diary and starting "Searched Universal Jobmatch (and other sites), found job x at organisation y, applied with CV via UJ" and providing no further evidence.last thing advisor said was "dont forget to tick those boxes will you" i assume this is still not mandatory
It's still optional. Your consent is required.0 -
Yes, disregard the adviser's comments about ticking the boxes. You don't have to.0

your agreement says you will use it. that does not mean you agree to allow access. i've never heard of an adviser expecting printed proof of any activity like another poster suggests. i just show them my diary sheets and on them jobs are listed with the job title, job id number and date applied. thats it.0

No, I never said an advisor would expect it. I just put it forward as a way you could prove you're actively searching for a job and using Universal Jobmatch.0 -
Sorry to chip my twopenneth in but I think it's a farce tbh. I get job alerts from UJM but they send me details of jobs in London and other faraway places when I actually live in Yorkshire.
I've been going on job sites like indeed and registering with companies for iob alerts as everything seems to be done online these day! Last week when I signed on I saw a woman who wasn't my usual advisor and she said I need to prove that I've been online and registered for job alerts and searched vacancies. How the heck am I meant to do that???0 -
The same way you always have had to.murtle1981 wrote: »I've been going on job sites like indeed and registering with companies for iob alerts as everything seems to be done online these day! ok so it didnt go too badly,i was questioned severel times why i didnt want to give access though but have now been told if i do not give access then i will have to log in to my account at the job centre so they can have a look along with printouts??
sounds like they are trying it on again, i was preety much told that was what was happening and not asked.0 -
if it were me one thing is for sure is that i would think you want print outs you can have print outs. i would then use their facilities and print off loads off stuff everyday. i would then plonk it in front of my adviser everytime i see them. how long before they say you dont have to print stuff out anymore.HEISENBERG wrote: »ok so it didnt go too badly,i was questioned severel times why i didnt want to give access though but have now been told if i do not give access then i will have to log in to my account at the job centre so they can have a look along with printouts??

They're telling you that you must log in at the jobcentre, while being supervised, and they'll look through our account then? Again, they can't do this and it makes the consent box totally useless.
Tell them you'll provide print offs of your activity history in UJ, including jobs you've applied for but won't allow them access in any way. If they don't like them tell them to !!!! off (but obviously more politely).0
