Blue badge wrongly displayed

I would be very grateful for any advice. We parked in a disabled parking space in a Lidl car park with my 87 year old mother and displayed her blue badge on the front dashboard. When we returned one hour later there was a parking ticket under the wiper. I went to ask the Euro Parks employee why it was there and he said that it was because the blue badge had been placed with the right side down. He said that there was nothing he could do once it had been issued, although he was prepared to concede that it was a genuine error on our part. He said that we could appeal.
I have since returned to the shop and spoken to the manager (following advice on the forum), but he spoke to the Euro Parks man himself and was given the same information. When I pointed out that the time frame for a response to an appeal was 35 days whilst in 14 days time the charge increases from £50 to £90, the Euro Parks man said that most people pay the lower charge straightaway which is then refunded if the appeal succeeds.
I note that the advice given on most of the forums is to do nothing until an NTK arrives by post.
My mother has been so upset by this. Please can anyone offer any advice. Many thanks.

Don't pay these people anything, if you do its game over! Now wait for the NtK to arrive between days 29-56 then appeal providing its in England or Wales ? Use the wording in the sticky thread by coupon mad.
The blue badge scheme is not relevant on private land, it's meant for public roads and council car parks , not on land like this. Make complaints to Lidl head office, inform them that they and their agents are breaching the Equality Act 2010, tell that you will not shop with them again, and you are going to take legal action against them if they don't cancel. When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.
