Help with Hotpoint Aquarius Washing machine

My friend had an error FO5 on her Aquarious+ WMF 740 washing machine.
I went out to try help her sort it out. We downloaded the manual instructions from hotpoint. It stated that error was due to the filter at the front bottom filter of the machine.
It told me to turn it anticlockwise then to pull out the filter to clean.
we Done as the manual stated except it would only turn from 12 to 9(as in a quarter turn and would'nt release). I didnt want to force it any further.
Since the bottom part we tried to turn, we set it back to the way it was and now it is pouring water out when we tried a quick wash
can Anyone help us out here!
Thanx

Water pouring out of where? The door has a rubber seal.
Hope you have switched it off at the plug.

Perhaps you need to put the filter back in correctly......It wasnt leaking before you took the filter out ............

Sounds like you've put the filter in at an angle. Don't try and tighten it up any more in case you cross-thread it. Take it, make sure it's going in proerly and not at a slight angle. When you screw it in and it feels tight, make sure there isn't an obvious bit sticking out from one particular side - if so, it's not in straight.

This happened to me, I have a Hotpoint Aqualtis, but same type of filter.

It sounds like either you haven't tightened the filter cover properly, or you've overtightened it and torn the rubber ring that should seal it.

If it won't unscrew past nine o'clock, there's probably something blocking it. It may be that the filter is filled with accumulated cr*p that was shifted when you unscrewed it and is now preventing it from sitting correctly. In my case, it was a bra wire, coins, hair grips and lots of other stuff. In the end, I had to force the filter cover off and broke it into pieces to do so, but ordered the replacement and it fitted perfectly.

FWIW, this happened to me in Sept 2012 and my machine has been working fine since. Good luck!
