Credit card payment confirmed but money not taken?

Hi there
I recently paid off a credit card used for a holiday abroad via a cheque from my current account. The credit card company have confirmed via a statement that the cheque was received and processed 3 weeks ago yet the the money is still to be debited from the account that I made the payment from.
Having spoken to Lloyds (whom the account I paid from is with) they have confirmed that there are no outstanding cheque transactions on my account.
I've also spoken to the credit card company who have confirmed the date that the cheque was processed and also the account that the payment was taken from.
Is there a timeframe by which the credit card company have to ensure that they have charged a payment back to my account and where do I stand considering I have a written statement showing that it has been paid?
Any advice greatly received!

A cheque is valid (no questions asked) for up to six months after being issued. For whatever reason, the cheque got delayed and is likely to turn-up any day. Make sure you have sufficient funds in your account.
If the cheque does not get cashed within the six months, the bank (probably) will have to ask you for a new cheque, but it's only after six years that the CC has no longer a claim on the money owed.0 -
Thanks for the response. As you say it'll be wise for me to make sure there are funds there to cover it.
I wasn't aware of the 6 year rule though so thanks again for the advice.0 -
OP can I ask one question - do you have more than one cheque account - could you have written a cheque on a different account?0

The credit card company have confirmed that the cheque was related to that account. My bank account even checked my other bill account in order to ensure that there wasn't a transaction pending on that account instead.
It seems like I've got to just wait and see!0 -
I very much doubt a telephone adviser would be able to tell who the cheque was drawn on.0

Anything is possible in this world, especially on a Bank Holiday weekend

Is it possible that the credit card company scans all cheques and the advisor was able to see an image of it online?0 -
Look at first post , 2nd paragraph where OP states that the bank told him that there are no cheque transactions outstanding # how could they possibly know this?0

Well, if that's the part of the post you were commenting about then I agree, it's impossible, but as you specifically mentioned "who the cheque was drawn on" I don't think it's unreasonable for me to have assumed you were referring to paragraph 3.0 -
The whole story is improbable - don't you think?Well, if that's the part of the post you were commenting about then I agree, it's impossible, but as you specifically mentioned "who the cheque was drawn on" I don't think it's unreasonable for me to have assumed you were referring to paragraph 3.0
