howdens kitchens - showroom

Hi, we are looking for a new kitchen and have visited many showrooms, but tempted by Howdens due to reputation and price. The only problem is that our local showroom in Northwich is very small with little on display. Does anyone know if there is a large Howdens showroom in Cheshire?

They don't have large showrooms afaik, you might be better choosing which doors you like in the local branch and ask if they have a display kitchen of that type in another branch. It's part of what makes them decent value for money.

The carcasses are all the same, bar whether they're white/oak so quality checking and drawer pulling/waggling can be done on any kitchen they've built. They always have a door out on display and the brochures are pretty comprehensive.

We are looking to buy a new kitchen and have been told that Howden's have one on Road One in Winsford, not sure how big it is or whether it is just a trade counter. Some of the reviews for them are dire, but our neighbour is pleased with their new kitchen from them.

Knutsford, Winsford, Widnes & Crewe are your nearest ones according to the Howdens website. No indication of their sizes, though :(

  • You can see the size of the Winsford and Warrington buildings on google street view (on Howdens website). Winsford looks quite big:http://www.howdens.com/about-us/contact-your-local-depot/?p=Winsford&olat=53.25622600000001&olng=-2.517497800000001

Not that the size of the building is necessarily a reflection on the size of the showroom of course! Each one has a phone number though, so you could just phone and ask.

I fit a lot of Howdens kitchens and always accompany the customer at the showroom. I also borrow door samples from the showroom and take them to my customers homes so they can see what they are like in their own surroundings. If your fitter is decent, he'll do the same.

That's the problem, how do you find a decent fitter?
Has anyone used IKF (independent kitchen fitters) of Chester?

We may decide to have the whole job done with the same company who fits the units, that way we are only using one company.
