OP has stated they received a renewal email with the NEW card details on it (or at least the last 4 digits of the NEW card)...for a card only issued some two weeks prior.Your new card details were not passed on to Admiral.
If you have a CPA for an expired card, the bank's system automatically diverts any existing CPA attempts against an expired card to the new card and bank account.
Admiral are still none the wiser you have a new card
So I'm not sure how you can say the card details "were not passed to Admiral" and "Admiral are still none the wiser you have a new card"?
I'm possibly missing something. Help me out?0 -

When CPA was first setup that wasn't the case, my bad then if this has changed since I last researched CPA. I apologise.
The rest of my post still stands though.0 -

There are arguments for and against CPA but at the end of the day you need to check what you're signing.
Even if the card number was different if they had authorisation in place then the money would have still come out - think Payday loans stylee
I'm guessing you were aware that it was coming up for renewal and you'd found your next provider? If you got a letter telling you payment was going to be taken when you didn't want it to be you'd call and cancel anyway wouldn't you?

Are you saying you definitely cancelled the renewal with Admiral but they went ahead anyway?0
