Currys - couldn't care less!

Curry's/PC World can be good. Just use the internet first! Research the price for what you want, and then check theirs. It might be good, and they might be doing a web-only price. So you reserve the item you want, you know it'll be there, and you get it cheaper, and don't have to wait. Best of both worlds. I think the staff must be trained to stay back a bit these days, and let customers browse. I think it's great not being hassled whilst others don't like it. Ah well.

Don't know if you are trying to be funny or not, but what I want is a shop I can walk into and SEE and TOUCH computers before I buy.0 -
You get what you pay for. If you want to buy a cheapo piece of plastic running Windows 8 that will grind to a halt after a year, be my guest.
Only laptop that has ever failed on me in the field has been a macbook, three times.
I still have a 10 year old toshiba satellite laptop which apart from motherboard backup battery having died (can forgive that after 10 years) is still going.
Hence why I finally dumped all mac stuff last week and bought a new toshiba satellite from.... ...pcworld newtownabbey (not currys but same parent company). Staff were helpful, useful and got me where I wanted to go, although unfortunately could not get a windows 7 machine for me. (for the last 3 years Ive had my macbook boot to windows 7).
Windows 8.whatever with a couple of mods to look like windows 7 is going ok.
Not ideal but 400 odd quid instead of 1000 odd quid that has a sit in an air conditioned office range of operating temperatures for a laptop.0 -

Cant say i'm that bothered. I'll research the spec i need / want, then check online reviews then buy from the cheapest of the main online players.0 -

Thats what happening full stop. Especially stuff like laptops, people go in and see the one they want they buy it online elsewhere.
Hence if the sales people even think you might not be buying that day, they'll lose interest - not worth their while.
Was looking at a smart 3d tv 50 inch and blu ray player and stand and the guy was all over us - asking questions like "will you be paying with cash or card today?" Price overall "seemed" reasonable - certainly if you were to listen to his sales patter it was, however i convinced the missus to think about it overnight. Turns out it was last years model for both units and we could get the new models delivered by Amazon next day for £200 less!
So i guess if they know you're not taking one away that day then they're probably never going to see you again.0
