Currys - couldn't care less!

You get what you pay for. If you want to buy a cheapo piece of plastic running Windows 8 that will grind to a halt after a year, be my guest.
Windows 8 is not as bad as it was when first launched , there have been a few updates in the past year that have greatly improved it.
If you think an Apple is anyway better built than a Windows laptop then you are mistaken. Built using the same basic components in the same factories by the same workers.

Reading about Foxconn is scary. Their main factory in Shenzen is the largest factory in the world, employs over 400,000 people. They make 40% of all consumer electronics sold worldwide. Loads of different products from rival companies made on neighbouring production lines, including Apple their biggest costumer.0 -
I've found that Amazon offer the best choice and are usually very competitive on price. Delivery wait can be as little as one day if you are prepared to pay or have Prime, otherwise most stuff can be delivered free within a week.
PC World and Curries were on to a good thing with 'collect in store' which they pioneered IIRC .. but having had some bad experiences with it have basically given up on driving myself to the nearest Curries/PCW store and just use Amazon with a few clicks on my smartphone. Usually cheaper and I've never been let down other than by the occasional late delivery which is down to the courier service. If they get their collection point service up and working in NI then I can see a lot of local retailers being severely hit.0 -

Why careful? Surely they are employed to do a job and should think of everyone who comes into the shop as a potential customer who ultimately pays their (however inadequate) wages?0 -
Do you have a Staples there? our one has helpful staff0

The strangest thing about this thread is the fact that at some point in the past, Curry's apparently cared. Can't say I recall that...0

Currys/PC World has a monopoly over here so they treat us how they like.
There's this new thing called the Interweb.0 -
Rarely in Curry's these days, certainly never browsing. Last time before yesterday was to pick up a Google Chromecast on release day and as I'd reserved it on-line I was in and out in less than 15 seconds.
Went to buy a washing machine yesterday though and within a minute of walking in the door I'd been approached by 3 members of staff. I knew exactly what I wanted though so can't really comment on if they were helpful or not. Girl definitely lost interest once I said I wouldn't be needing the extra cover though.
At the end of the day it's a store. Sometimes they have the best price on a certain item and sometimes it's simply convenient to buy from a physical store.0
