Can somebody please give me advice as i'm at my wits end. I recently found out my husband was having an affair and he came home this evening and said we're putting the house on the market . We have two children aged 3 and 6 , he said he'll transfer £700 a month into my account towards the kids , but i don't trust him to do that .cause he has stopped money going into my account before . I'm scared cause there is little equity on the house and I only work partime . Is there anyway I could keep the house or can he force me to sell . What benefits could i get .I'd really appreciate any help , thanks.

You really need to see a solicitor and get some proper legal advice.

With regard to what you can claim, if you're working over 16 hours you should be able to claim working tax credit and possibly some council tax benefit. Contact the council anyway because if you are the only adult in the house you'll get a 25% reduction on your council tax.

If you're concerned that your husband won't pay maintenance as agreed go through the CSA, if he doesn't pay they can do an attachment of earnings on him. This should be a last resort though because as we all know, they're not that good!! and you may end up receiving less than he's agreed to pay depending on his earnings.

Be strong, you can get through this and you'll get so much support on here. Sounds like you're being very practical about everything at the moment - if you ever need to have a !!!!!y rant - feel free!!
  • Thanks for that Rachnbri , I'll look into all that on monday ,

No matter what he promises, get legal advice. Good luck.
  • Thanks Garnet_Gem.

My problem now is trying to get money off him for shopping , I got £60 off him last month , and today he put another £60 on the work top even though I know he's got plenty in his pocket . I feel like a child asking him for money . I don't say nothing anymore cause he just becomes verbally abusive in front of the children and i can't do that to the poor kids. I saw the contract for his new job offer and they said he will get £5,000 bonus annually , a friend said i could prob be entitled to some of that , but how would i find that out ?

Thanks for the good wishes , i'm probably going to need it over the next few weeks !!
