Just over a year ago I bought a cheap tablet computer, it stopped working, the switch was faulty, it was replaced, darn if the same thing didn't happen again!! This time I was told that the guarantee had run out and it was just too bad!! Then I got an e-mail to say that I could have a discount on anything else I bought!! I said only if they were willing to give me my money back!!
I e-mailed the company who made the tablet and discovered they had changed the operating system. But here I am with a useless tablet that won't switch on and neither the company that sold it or the company that made it will answer my e-mails!! Is there anything I can do?

Small claims court against the retailer, assuming they are in the uk. But you said you had an email from them and said they don't respond... As above, consider a claim against the retailer as you've been sold an item not of "satisfactory quality" under the Sale of Goods Act.
Some good info here:

If you need to take the matter to court, you can do so via the government's MoneyClaim Online service (but make sure you know what you're getting yourself into first!):
