Gutted. Charged for "renewing" my Experian membership

Can anyone offer any advice please (be gentle).

Couple of days ago I was refused credit so I thought I'd get a couple of credit reports with a view of improving my score. Today I see I've been charged £14.99 for "renewing" my membership. I had no idea I'd even had an Experian membership previously.

Now, given I only pay myself £200 each month to completely get by, I'm absolutely gutted how I've forked out 7.5% of my monthly wage away on nothing!! Just thrown it down the pan!

Are there any pointers you'd be able to offer to help get this refunded, please? I spoke to them earlier but they were completely unsympathetic. The final kick in the teeth is receiving an email to say my membership has been cancelled after the call meaning I viewed the report once!!

    When you signed up to view your Experian credit files I'm surprised it didn't come up that you weren't a new customer if you've been charged for renewing.

    When I tried with a different email address a couple of years ago it came up that I'd previously registered and to log in with the email address assigned to that account.

    I can't help you get your money back (as much as I'd like to find the words you could utter to Experian and appeal to their better nature) but you can sign up for Noddle free at noddle.co.uk

    And if you ever want to view your credit reports you can obtain the Statutory ones for £2 from Experian and Equifax as well as Callcredit (who operate noddle.co.uk)
    It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.

    Everyone is on the rob these days aren't they. I've just been stung, I think.

    Thank you loads for taking the time to respond though. May have to forget about it for the weekend and get back to them on Tuesday. They did say they could refund half of it.
